This activity invites you to explore different viewpoints using the thinking routine Perceive, Know, Care About. Begin by considering what the character perceives. By this we mean what they can see, hear, sense but also what do they understand from this. From the online definition of perceive, we see that it means “to become aware or conscious of (something); to come to realize or understand something e.g."his mouth fell open as he perceived the truth”. Then describe what they know. Each character might have access to a slightly different set of facts. Not every character has access to all the events in a story. Finish by considering what motivates the character, why do they make the choices they do. How does what they care about shape their behaviour.
